Note: The Mathematics and English papers are compulsory. The Regional Language paper can be answered in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, or other approved regional languages.

Important Instructions

Candidates must be between 11.5 to 13 years of age as of January 1/July 1 of the admission year.
All answers must be written in the candidate's own handwriting. No scribes are allowed.
No electronic devices (calculators, smartwatches, etc.) are permitted in the examination hall.
Selection is based on written exam performance, followed by an interview and medical test.

Mathematics (200 marks), English (125 marks), General Knowledge (75 marks)

MATHEMATICS (200 Marks)

Arithmetic: Number systems, fractions, decimals, HCF/LCM, percentages
Algebra: Basic operations, linear equations, exponents, polynomials
Geometry: Lines, angles, triangles, circles, area/volume calculations
Mensuration: Perimeter, area, surface area, volume of 2D and 3D shapes
Data Handling: Bar graphs, pie charts, averages (mean, median, mode)
Applied Math: Time-speed-distance, profit-loss, simple interest

ENGLISH (125 Marks)

Grammar: Tenses, prepositions, conjunctions, parts of speech
Comprehension: Unseen passages with questions
Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms, phrases
Writing Skills: Letter/essay writing (150-200 words)
Error Correction: Sentence improvement, spotting errors

Note: Selected candidates join RIMC Dehradun for Class VIII. The total intake is 50 students per batch (twice yearly). Fees include subsidized tuition with scholarships for eligible candidates.

Note: The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers (test booklets) of Mathematics and Part "B" of General Ability Test will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.

Important Instructions

In the question papers, wherever necessary, questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only will be set.
Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe.
The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination.
No calculators or mathematical tables are permitted in the examination hall.
